Ana Elizabeth Garcia
My name is Ana Elizabeth Garcia. I was raised in South Florida. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my younger sister and my nephew. I also enjoy practicing kickboxing. I am currently and FIU student who is about to graduate this December. I will be graduating with my Bachelors in Psychology. My admiration for the field came in my late teenage years. I have a younger sister with Kabuki Syndrome. She is also diagnosed with autism. Earlier in my life I knew of her disability but was not as involved as I was later on. My family went through many troubles as I grew up and I had to look out for my sister. I devoted my time to helping my mom with my sister’s medical appointments and taking her to her therapies. I wish I could have been there more then I already was. For that reason, I decided I wanted to know more about Psychology. I wanted to understand and help others understand more about the mind and the different aspects of it. As I started to get more into my studies I grew a big desire to learn more about child psychology, in the area of ABA more specifically. By taking courses and looking for ways to be more hands on in the field I have found what I want to be doing in life. I do have much more to learn, but I am up for the challenge of what is ahead. As far as my education, I have plans to get my becoming a Registered Behavior Technicians in the near future followed by finishing my requirements to become a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst. Ahead of that I wish to get into graduate school.
